The Super Soaker 200 is one of my favorite all time
blasters. This gun has an incredible feel. It really feels
like you're holding an assault rifle. However, just because it
feels great doesn't mean it performs great. In theory it should
perform great, it has 3 nozzle options (4 if you unscrew the nozzle),
great capacity, a big firing chamber, a tracked pump, a carrying
handle, and a strap. However, the gun's main flaw is not in its
design. It's in the way the design was carried out into
production. The SS 200 uses some of the poorest plastic I've seen
in my life. This is probably because the gun is based off of the
SS 100. Although the SS 200 uses a much wider plastic tube to
connect the firing chamber to the nozzle it also uses the exact same
plastic pipes as the SS 100 does to connect the firing chamber to the
pump. Every single SS 100 and SS 100mk2 I've used over the years
has broken where the firing chamber meets the pipes coming from the
pump. Simply put, the plastic used for the pipework is simply not
strong enough to support the maximum psi these guns are able to
generate. And if the pipes aren't strong enough to support the
pressure inside an SS 100 they most certainly cannot support the
pressure that the SS 200 is able to generate. If you do not coat
the internals with epoxy this gun WILL break.
Another weak point in this blaster is the
pump. Not necisarily the plastic, although that could have been
made stronger, but the fact that it's so small. It takes about 34
pumps to pressurize this gun! At least it's got a super long shot
time to make up for it. The SS 200's firing chamber is about the
same size as the CPS 2100's, but the three nozzle options that come
stock with the 200 are much much smaller than the CPS 2100's
To the left is a picture of the
Super Soaker 200's nozzle selector. The nozzles are (clockwise)
2mm, 1mm, and
1.25mm. To the right is a picture of the SS 200's nozzle selector
removed. The nozzle is 4mm.
Pros: Great Shot
Time, Incredible Capacity,
Cool feel Cons: Internals fragile, externals fragile,
lacks CPS power, the strap isn't
very good, poor pump capacity, the weight is poorly distributed
Recommendation: Only for collectors or
if you plan to extremely modify it.
