Storm debuted in 2000 with its "Force" blasters and "photon beams". The Storm blasters all had the "photon light" and featured cool styling. Unlike Speed Loader which was eclipsed in two seasons, Storm is going strong now in 2002, even though their first year was pretty messy. In 2001 Storm came back with a roar and made cooler looking guns with color team designs, where there are two different color styles of each gun blue and red. In 2001 Storm ate Supersoaker's lunch in the XP line, almost beating out Supersoaker's cash cow the XP 270. Today the Storm 750 is a populer sidearm, and even though most guns are under fire by the core soaker vets the 750 is respected among those "hard core" water warriors to a place where it earned a place as a "hall of fame" pistol. Populer guns in 2001 were the Storm 750, 1200, and 2500. The 2500 wasn't as widely purchased as the 750, but it was another respected blaster by core soaker enthusiasts. This year the 750 and 2500 return with a whole new line and 3 different color teams including the new choice of team green. Most soaker enthusiasts regard the photon beam as little more then childs play, and the color wars team idea as a weird way to please little kids. Yet all agree that the styling of Storm blasters is above most pistols Supersoaker can deal out. Most prefer the looks of the New Storm 650 to the Max D 3000. Supersoaker has launched a new campaignn for 2002 with the slogan "Nothing outsoaks a Supersoaker". The new Max D line is a defensive manuever by Supersoaker to counteract Storm's sales in its XP price line last year. In terms of power the new Max Ds out shoot Storm guns by at least 8 feat, yet a few powerfull Storm blasters such as the 2500 stay in line with the Max D's power and range. Most Storms feature a 1x nozzle, not very good against guns like the Supersoaker XP 105, XP 150, or Max D 6000, yet in 2001 the main oposition was the XP 270 which had controversial looks and the same size nozzle as most Storms. Yet Storms use a fiber optic technology that helps the 1x beam to stick together longer then the XP's and not to break up. This year Storm is under fire by the new Max D's power and range, yet Storm has introduced a new idea, with powerfull counters to the Supersoaker CPS Splashzooka 65oz, and CPS 1-3-5 blaster thus avoiding the Max D's power and range. With the new lineup in a power war over the watergun market this year is extremely critical. Storm may be a mere shower, or a powerfull Huricane; one thing is for sure... you decide. Short reviews: |
