The
Storm 2500 is a nice large rifle capable of giving a good sting in
battle.
It was released in 2001 as team red (red and black), and team blue
(blue
and orange), and rereleased in 2002. The Storm 2500 is a
controversial
blaster, most people hate fighting with it because of its somewhat
awkward
design, yet most people hate fighting against it because of the stellar
performance this weapon can give when used properly. The Storm
2500
has a nice 1x beam that has range equal to most Max Ds, and over that
of
most XPs. Then there is a "secret" 3x nozzle on the pump that
fires
35 feet (10m), and fires when it is turned on and you are
pumping.
The laser light is mostly a gimmick, but can be fun. It also has
a flash light "photon beam" that is actually useful as a small flash
light.
It is compatable with Storm's "Unlimitor", this hooks it up to the hose
as a power surging streamlined gun. Its output is not as good as
the CPS 1000, 1200, or XXP 175, but it gets the job done. Its
kinda
uncomfortable, but if you use it right there will be no complaining...
except on the enemy side. The Storm 2500 is a nice heavy rifle,
and
an eccelent choice when a Max D 6000 or XP 150 isn't around.
You'd
be better off with a Splashzooka or SC 600 for around the yard squirt
fests,
but when the serious player needs a gun the Stom 2500 never
fails.
Its built very sturdy, but make sure you don't put salt water or other
foreign materials in it as it will crack the pump from the inside
out.
When taken against XPs the Storm 2500 dominates, I've killed a XXP 175,
and SC 600 with this gun. Still, do not get to cocky around Max D
6000s. I'd give this weapon the edge over the
Max D 6000, but I wouldn't bet on it. The Storm 2500 is light,
powerfull,
and is streamlined, but its rather awkward. Mainly the underside
of the plastic under the reservoir is lined horizontilly and can
iritate
ones arm. I also reccomend attaching a strap to it, you don't
want
to be cought out in the cold very long with any weapon this size.
Overall, a nice weapon that is unlimitor compatable. One last
thing
that makes me give this gun a slight negative rating... cost.
I've
set this weapon up against Supersoakers its size/performance/style that
are $10-$15. You will find this gun from $18-$25 US. For
that
price you might as well buy a CPS. It's not a bad gun, in fact
it's a really good gun - as far as statistics are concerned.
However, there are many more things to consider onthe battlefield than
just plain statistics. For its size and price you might as well
go with a CPS 2100 or CPS Flash Flood; and even though it shoots more
and
generally shoots further than most light rifles it is twice as
awkward. It's one of those guns that tries to span too many
purposes. It's just not powerful enough to be used by Heavy
Gunners, and it's just too awkward to be of use as a light rifle.
Pros:
Not many pumps, close range 3x blast. Not bad capacity
or range either.
Cons:
Non CPS, for $20 one can just as well get a CPS weapon, not that
comfortable
